Last night we hit up Tyler, Harper & Court's school fundraiser Valentines Dance. All they knew is that meant cake, a dance party and getting to stay up extra late (7:30!). To say they had fun was an understatement. They danced their little hearts out and took down enough pink lemonade & cake to cause a sugar rush followed by a sugar breakdown when it was time to leave. No photos from inside the dance but it was as cute as can be....

We have been up to a lot of nothing lately... pretty boring blog material. The kids have hit an easy phase, almost too easy. After school each day while Court naps the girls do art... drawing, painting, cutting~ you name it these two are doing it. Tyler makes no less than 25 masterpieces each day and Harper hangs with her sister doing the same just so she can spend time with her. Its pretty sweet to watch. Afternoons used to be filled with some type of out-of-the-house activity but lately these 3 say they want to play at home. They pick flowers in the backyard, Court kicks a ball, they want to help cook dinner, they are fine with pretty much anything as long as we are home and as long as we are all doing something together. This afternoon I was trying to convince the kids that the nature museum would be fun... they had another idea. Pillow party in Court's room...

The end of the birthday celebrations have finally come for Mr. Court.... we wrapped up turning 2 with a playgroup birthday party at a frozen yogurt place in town. Perfect for our little sugar monster!

We celebrated Court turning 2 over the weekend with a family lunch. Everyone came and Court loved being the star of the show.

I made my first cake... a construction cake that the girls helped decorate. Think this may be my one & only homemade cake.

Dress up has been all the rage these days at the house. Harper normally gets in full costume every morning before breakfast and is all about accessorizing. Tyler loves dressing up too but always goes a little more simple with her emsembles. Add two dress up princess birthday parties this week and we have two little girls in dress up heaven.

There is a new obsession in the house... the starry night turtles. Aunt Jacquelyn gave the girls theirs for their 4th birthday. Green for Tyler & Pink for Harper. Court got his own when he moved into his big boy bed. I am pretty sure these are infant toys but all of our littles are obsessed with them. Banks came over at bed time a few night ago and got to check out what the fuss was all about....

Dad was in charge of dressing the youngest over the weekend.. our wiggle worm who would prefer to go au natural most of the time and the one who actually is starting to have an opinion on what he wears. He will point to his boots and insists on wearing them most of the time and then prefers shirts with only cars or trucks on them. So I was quite surprised when Court emerged Saturday morning wearing one of Mommy's old UNC sweaters. Too bad it did not bring the tarheels luck!

I love that...

Court has been an amazing napper this week in his big boy bed and wakes up with crazy hair!

I love that for the first time all year Court has had his first week with no tears at preschool drop off.

I love that the girls always include Court.

Court is always invited to the top bunk for "a party" each afternoon.

I love that these 3 are best friends.

I love that Harper is so sweet and always shares anything with anybody. She is the first to let her brother ride her scooter or sleep with one of her special buddies.

I love that Tyler has turned into "Miss Manners" always saying excuse me, please & thank you, yes mam & no sir... and is very quick to point out others that do not have nice manners.

The threat of "manners school" worked like a charm!

I love that Court has learned how to sign "more" from his first speech therapy session and we learned that he is indeed not stubborn with not wanting to talk but he is simply behind because of all of his ear infections. I especially love that he is so proud of learning new ways to communicate and that he will catch up before we know it.

I love that bath time is now shower time... easiest part of the day!

Ultra Marathoner

So most would consider a marathon a great accomplishment. Five marathons, well that is just spectacular. Then meet Tyler, Harper & Court's Dad who decided an ultra marathon was next on the bucket list. So a 50k or 31 miles of straight running... does not sound fun to me, but we packed up and hit the road to cheer Daddy on!

We entered 2012 with no cribs in our house!!! Big milestone since it was not that long ago that we had three in cribs at the same time. That's right our little Court man is growing up and a big boy bed was in order. Well actually - Mommy has no patience and his bed that we had made was ready way earlier than we thought, so we just did it... and held our breath that this did not happen again!!! Night one he woke up about 2am in a panic and Mommy spent the rest of his night in his bed but since then he has been perfect. He goes down easily after a few books and some snuggles and wakes up at his normal 7:15am. He has not attempted to get out of the bed yet, he is just so proud to be just like his big sissies.

Christmas Day 2011

Our last bit of Christmas to share... Following Santa we pried the kiddos away from their new toys and off to Ebby & Poppy's for brunch with Jacquelyn, Jonathan & cousin Banks. Ebby is a bit of a Christmas fanatic so every inch of their house is decorated and its magical to see. After presents and some yummy grub we hit the road to see Honey & Pop and the rest of the White family relatives. A late lunch and an early dinner made for some very full bellies. 'Tis the season! Tyler & Harper left no gift unwrapped and no toy broken in. Court has never seen so many trains or cars in his life as he has in his new collection. The next day we hit the road yet again to see Grumpa & Libby and then settled back in High Point for a few days of R & R! What a blessed Christmas spent with the ones we love!

'Twas the night before Christmas

We had such a nice Christmas Eve. It was just the five of us plus Ebby & Poppy. Our dear friend Windsor had her baby girl Mary Austin just days before Christmas so instead of the usual Beaver family throwdown on Christmas Eve we had our own family dinner after church and kept it simple this year. The kids did great at church and Court loved the celebrate band and clapped after each song and the girls were mesmerized by baby Jesus in the manger up front. After church we went to Ebby & Poppy's house and enjoyed a wonderful meal and some cocktails then rushed home to bed so Santa could come....

Here we go... just about 24 hours until the kiddies will be nestled in their beds dreaming of sugarplums and waiting for ol' saint nick to leave some goodies for them. We are so excited!! We have been keeping busy with lots of Christmas fun this week.... a few highlights below.

Playing Catch Up!

Tis the season for non stop action... hence the lack of blog posts! We have had the best time counting down to Christmas this year with fun family activities. We have bounced between playdates, birthday parties & cookie decorating parties. We have spent tons of time driving around in the car at dark listening to Christmas tunes and looking at all of the fun holiday lights. Its one of Court's favorite things to do and has even prompted a new word... Ho Ho for Santa.

Court's best gal leighton turned 2, somehow this is the only picture we took from her fun gym party. Harper has the class monkey for the week then next week is Tyler. Monkey George has to go everywhere & be photographed... hmm, mommy pressure?!? Sure hope we can keep up with him for 2 more weeks!

Cookies & Milk Party

Tyler, Harper & Court's 4th Annual Cookies & Milk party was so fun. We were pretty close to not having it due to living in our very weird rental but when the girls starting asking if the real Santa was coming back again for cookies at their house with their friends, I knew we had to keep the traditions going. So, the baking, decorating & planning began. Tyler & Harper were actually pretty big helpers this year and helped to plan some of the details.

The toy drive

This is the first year we decided to do a toy drive and the idea actually came from the girls in a round about way. Recently they have been putting lots of their old toys in bags and saying they want to give them to other children since they do not play with them anymore. So, we searched around for a children's charity looking for toys for the holidays and found Hemby Children's hospital... more on this below.

So, we were ready! It was going to be as low stress as it can be to have 100+ people in your house. We were prepared and did not have a ton of last minute stuff to do. Then this happened...

Yep, that is our tree at 9am the day of the party.

Broken ornaments everywhere and the stress level began to creep up.

But we survived. Cleaned up the mess and had some assistance securing it to the wall so it would stay up for good this time.

Cookies & Milk Party 2011

We do not have any pictures of the chaos of the packed party... guess we were busy entertaining. But it was fun. Can't wait to do it all again next year.

The day after the party we all went to go donate all of the amazing toys our friends brought to the party. We had a box filled to the top of new toys for the kids at Hemby Children's hospital to enjoy and it was such a rewarding experience. The children there are sick and will be spending Christmas in the hospital and these toys will help bring them a little cheer. We wanted to make sure the kids could all go with us to understand where the toys were going...

The Nutcracker

It was a weekend of kids Christmas activities! We started off Friday afternoon with a trip to a fun Art & Gym Santa party. Lots of running around jumping and tumbling, lots of painting and drawing and some snuggles with Santa.

Then we went to drop off the girls for their first trip to the Nutcracker with Honey, Gigi & Aunt Kristin. They made it through most of it then dozed off at the end. Tyler says her favorite part was the bear and Harper loved the mice.

Meanwhile Court enjoyed a weekend with just mom & dad and had lots of one on one time without his attention bearing sissies around. It was just what he needed and just what Mommy needed to get everything ready for our annual Cookies & Milk party. Pictures to come from that... still recovering!

4 Year Old Stats

Our two FOUR year olds had a great check up today.

The girls are both in about the 25th% for height and weight and perfectly healthy. Tyler weighs about a pound more and Harper is about half an inch taller but I think both these measurements may be a little skewed due to being wiggle worms.

Harper is 30.4 lbs and 39" tall. Tyler is 31.2lbs and 38.5" tall.

Their eye sight was great and Tyler impressed the doctor by writing her whole name- TYLER. Harper has the "H" down and a few other letters so she shyly showed off a few of her skills too.

Both screamed louder than I have ever heard with their shots today (and I did not even give them all of them so not looking forward to going back in a few weeks for the rest!) But they were quick to cheer up with some stickers.

Cabin Fever!!!

All of the partying we have done has gotten all of us a little run down... everyone has a tiny cold so we have been mostly housebound since Monday.... A trip to the doctor to confirm it is just a cold at the start of the week and then a brief attempt at school yesterday for the girls led to a call to pick them up due to uncontrollable bloody noses. That ended with a trip to the ENT where we barely escaped a cauterized nose vessel (not fun for a 4 year old so we are attempting alternatives!) So we decided to just chill at home ALL day! Mom got all the Christmas cards addressed and started the homemade favors for our annual Cookies & Milk party this weekend. The kids caught up on lots of Christmas movies and enjoyed a day in pj's! It was just what we needed but certainly has caused a bit of cabin fever! Cannot wait to escape in the morning.

Party Time!!!

So the day of the party finally arrived! We had two very excited little girls ready to celebrate turning 4 with their friends at their Art themed pajama party. The girls are obsessed with art... probably spend about 2+ hours a day drawing and painting, cutting and gluing ~ so having the party at an art studio was an easy choice. It was at 9am so we decided to serve sprinkle doughnuts and Tyler & Harper insisted that everyone wear pj's! It was fun, easy, low key and we all enjoyed a morning all about the girls.

So, what a week! A very eventful week. A class party, decorating the house for Christmas, surviving the new "attitude" that comes with being almost 4 (times 2), oh and they tore our house down....

Now onto decorating the tree... We started Sunday night and 5 days later I would say we are nearly finished. I love getting everything decorated early so we all have the whole month to enjoy the Christmas magic!

We pulled out the Christmas outfits (even though it was 70 degrees) on Sunday and hit up the Christmas Tree lot to pick out our special tree. The girls zoomed through the lot like wild elves and Court looked stunned the whole time. It did not take long to find the perfect tree and we are already busy decorating for Christmas around here!

We have had a fun week celebrating turkey day with our friends. Court had a school Thanksgiving party and the girls had a playgroup Thanksgiving feast at Wells' house. Tyler & Harper have made a long list of everything they are thankful for and Court topped the list!

It was a fabulous fall day. Sunny skies. Warm enough to wear a dress without tights. Perfect conditions for serious leaf pile jumping!!! Our rental house we are living in while we renovate has quite the backyard. Big backyard=lots of tree=lots of hours bagging leaves for Daddy=tons of fun for the girls!

Enter Mommy's comment here that she is going to keep to herself.

This only happens here and there because one younger sister likes to match her sister while the older one (by 2 minutes, but you can tell she is the oldest!) likes to dress different.

This is what our stubborn- always gets his way because he is mommy's last baby- does during nap time. That is right, we maybe get one nap a week. Instead he prefers to be a big kid and watch tv and snack. Hmmm...

Maybe the extra snacks will help him fill out his size 18 month clothes a little better. His appetite is back after his adenoid removal so we are hopeful he will grow big & strong!

We braved the chilly morning to go cheer on Dad in marathon #4 this weekend. No training for this one so he wanted to take it easy with a 9 minute mile pace which made it easy to know exactly where he would be at what time.

Its official... I am truly in love with our tiny tot! I have tried night after night to not go in his room and watch him sleep but I just can't help myself. He looks like an angel when he sleeps, a tiny cherub. He is a boy of comfort demanding to have every Little Giraffe silky pillow in the house (including his sisters pink ones, which they lovingly share) and plush blankets. Throw in a few trains and his singing aquarium and he is perfectly comfy in his little nest. This may be the kid that wants to sleep in his crib until he is 3, he loves it. And Mommy loves watching him sleep in his crib. A week's worth of phone pictures of our sleeping beauty...

How is it possible than in less than a month these two will be 4?

They are growing up SO Fast!

They amaze us everyday. We sit and look at them all of the time and say they are so grown up, where did our baby girls go? We have our hard days here and there but most days are truly wonderful and they are such a joy to be around. Being a twin is one of the coolest things. Its truly amazing that they are a pair. While SO much alike both in identity and personality they are starting to come into their own and are confident little girls finding their own way, own friends, own style and own interests. In almost four years of being together (outside of Harper's 8 days in the NICU at birth) they have only spent a couple of hours apart. They are the best of friends! And they are almost 4, really?

Halloween was just as exciting as the kids imagined it would be! A sugar filled happy day. It started with the girls school party that was so much fun to host and see all of the girls classmates that they talk about all of the time.

The girls went with Dad while Court stayed home with Mom to pass out candy. He loved putting pieces of candy in the big kids bags. The girls would have lasted all night but they were cut off close to 7:30. A bucket full of candy and two VERY happy girls!

We were party hoppin' this weekend. Every night and each morning and afternoon were filled with lots of Halloween fun. Thank goodness tomorrow marks a new month and hopefully a little slower pace. It has been great though and the girls are especially into Halloween this year, well how could they not be? Court's favorite thing about Halloween is driving around after bedtime checking out all of the neighborhood decorations... the scarier the better for this little guy. This was the girls favorite thing to do at his age so we have had a few nights where we have waited until it got dark then drove around looking for ghosts & goblins, scary monsters, glowing pumpkins and spooky spiders. A big hit!

This may be the most candy-filled week of the year... the week before October 31 where our days are packed with fun Halloween festivities. Before the big day we will actually attend 10 Halloween parties with only one of those being adults only! Kids are already starting to ask for candy corn for breakfast and Mom's energy is running low. Good thing we have plenty of sugar on hand to keep me going!

An eventful 24 hours!

Our little rockstar Court had a very eventful 24 hour span...

1st Panthers Game!

Daddy had an extra ticket to the Panther game so Court got to tag along with Dad and his clients. Sat through the whole game and had a blast! The game was from 1-4, aka nap time for our little mister but he rallied through. Girls were just a tad jealous...

Guess he cheered so much he sacked out on the way home.

Then he slept for most of Liza's birthday party.

He woke up just in time to eat a cupcake- of course!

First non-crib nap in a long, long time!!!

Ear tube surgery #2!

The Courtster had a very early morning appointment the next day. He also had his adenoids removed since they were enlarged ~ and fingers crossed this helps his growth a bit. What a trooper. No food or drink after midnight and he was just as happy as could be holding onto his trains and entertaining all the nurses while Mommy & Daddy snuggled with him.

Surgery went well and is already back to his old self! We are hoping this is our last time in the operating room for quite a while!

I love Friday mornings... it is the only day of the week where we are not rushing around getting ready for school, packing lunches and cramming in a quick breakfast. Friday mornings usually start with quite a few morning cartoons, a big breakfast of eggs & bacon and lazy cuddle time in bed with pj's on until at least 10am. It is so nice to have a day with all 3 at home and we usually take a group vote on what the activity will be that day. This past Friday it was a decision to head to the nature museum.

What have we been up to?

Here are a few snip-its of life over the past few days...

Finally really starting to like it.

He still lets out a few tears to make Mommy feel guilty but all in all he is really loving it. The good selection of cars & trucks in the classroom seem to help!

Mommy & Daddy had a little weekend away in Atlanta and came home to a surprise party planned by the girls... homemade chocolate cake with sprinkles, marshmallows and candy. A fun 33 with the family, would not have it any other way!

We all watched Tangled the other day and it was probably not the best timing because the girls said they wanted their hair long like Rapunzel.

After the girls insisting all summer that they wanted long hair like Mommy, there has finally been a change in the way they feel and they both have declared that short hair is cool. Summer of Summer Camps!

This has been the summer of summer camps for the girls. When our toes have not been planted in the sand at the beach, Tyler & Harper have been in camp. They have done everything from gymnastics to art, bible camps galore to spanish camp. These two have not stopped!

But with all of this fun has come minor injuries...

Harper shut down the gym at camp one day due to a uncontrollable bloody nose.

Tyler came home with her first fat lip from a gym injury.

And not to be left out Court is working on eating as many markers as possible this summer to see if Mommy will freak out and call Poison control.

Oh & he got his first scraped knee... no idea how we made it this long.

So, when Mommy offered up to the girls to raise your hand if you want to skip camp today and stay home with Mommy they happily obliged and we spent the day together.

Then they were put to work packing boxes for the move!

We still have 3 more camps to go... I think next summer we will try to not be so over scheduled so we can enjoy the lazy summer days! But for this summer I am enjoying seeing all of the new art projects they come home with, the new songs they are singing, the new words they are learning in Spanish and the new dance moves they are picking up along the way.

18 Months

This is the current state of our house with about 4 weeks to go until we move out for the renovation... lots of late nights staying up packing cause a lapse in judgement.

They will only be up for a few more weeks after all.

Camp Honey Pop

Camp Honey-Pop was last week for all the kids. It was the second summer of camp but the first one that Court has gone to. A full week without kids for Mom & Dad (yes I have the best in-laws in the world!) and 3 very happy campers! The kids went to Vacation Bible School at Honey & Pop's church, went swimming a lot, hit the park and had a fantastic time! Mom & Dad stayed home and packed up a lot of the house (more on that to come with another blog about our house renovation set to begin in a few weeks) but here are the pictures of the kids' fun filled week!

Court has officially hit the age where you just can see that boys and girls are wired differently right from the start. Anything with a loud engine like lawnmowers, lots of wheels like trucks or the speed of a boat have this little guy's heart. Court is a very laid back little dude to begin with but put him on a boat and his heart smiles he is so happy. When he was younger the lull of the motor would put him right to sleep, now he prefers to sit in a lap and take it all in. His eyes do not even blink with the amazement he is in when he is out on the water....

What a fun 4th! Started the day off with the Figure 8 parade, a fun carnival, a little beach time then finished up the night with some pretty amazing fireworks. The girls got to stay up super late to watch their first firework show and they think America's birthday is pretty cool.

We are about half way into our 3 weeks at the beach. Everyone is enjoying the laid back, no schedule way of the beach. Sandy toes, sunny days and smiley babies. We are soaking up every minute of this family time....

Gymnastics Camp

The girls finished up week 3 of summer camp and this past week was definitely one of their favorites.... YMCA Gymnastics with "Miss Bows"! The week ended with a show to let all of the proud parents come see all of their tumbling skills. Somersaults, High Jumps into the foam pit, Dangling from the monkey bars & walking the balance beam.

And the highlight to the end of the show... getting their medals. Girls are pretty proud of the ribbons and we are pretty proud of them!

Fathers Day Weekend

We had a wonderful Fathers Day Weekend... lots of family time which made all of the kids very happy. We spent a lot of time in the water at the lake. Its official... all of our kids are waterbugs! The girls are becoming great swimmers and even little Court kicks his legs and prefers to spend the daylight hours splashing away.
